BACKGROUND: "ray and irma whitecloud are having their first kid and it's a girl, a native girl. they decide to name her kerry. nine months later, a skinny white boy comes out. ray decides irma had an affair. he leaves her, so now irma's a single mother raising this bastard runt. Then eight years later, little boy cary, wakes up in his room. and there is an eight year old native girl playing with his train set. so for the next year he thinks, maybe he made her up. like his imaginary friend who comes and goes. but then he figures out that she lives inside of him. that they're two people in one body."

there's a very brief wiki here that outlines her abilities.

to further demonstrate the "two sides of one coin" narrative, kerry and her counterpart (cary) have very differing personalities. as she says on the show, "he does all the boring stuff. eating, sleeping...whatever it is you guys do in the bathroom. and i get all the action." cary is much more of a nurturing personality, where kerry is ferocious and fierce. she gets bored very quickly of talking, and is always spoiling for a fight, although with her summerland training, she knows enough not to instigate one unless there's an immediate threat.

which isn't to say she doesn't experience the "softer" emotions that others do, she simply buries them deeper inside of herself, making it easier for her to do the dirty work that often comes with protecting cary, and their fellow mutants.
INCENTIVE: kerry has only recently learned what it is to be separated long-term from her male counterpart, when cary went into the astral plane to search for david haller. his sudden disappearance, without any explanation to her, felt too much like abandonment. one that concluded in her being stalked through the hallways of clockworks mental hospital (an illusion that she and her friends were all trapped in) by the man who wants them all dead. in any other instance, she would have been able to fight back, but that seeming abandonment stripped her of the will, and shook her otherwise uncompromising trust in her male counterpart.

knowing now that he can, and will, leave her behind if the situation calls for it, kerry would like to learn how to fit into the world as her own, fully autonomous being. apart from that, the question has also begun to arise. if kerry only ages when she's outside of cary's body (meaning there's an approximate 40 year age gap between the two of them) what happens to her when he eventually dies? she would like to find an answer or, barring that, some means to survive on her own, without needing to be a part of him.
FIT: physical and emotional intimacy have never been simple for kerry, and have really only ever been achieved with her male half. there have been signs throughout the course of the season that maybe she isn't always fully happy with this, that she longs for some kind of friendship, especially as she and cary begin to part ways more and more, but she's never been quite sure how to achieve it. cary takes care of all the boring stuff, and that generally includes...dealing with people. eudio will be a challenge, and she'll be cautious in the beginning, but it's something she's curious and determined about enough to try it. just don't expect her to make the first move, or you'll be waiting a while.
CONSENT: despite her entirely unchallenged status as summerland's bodyguard, kerry has never broken any kind of consent. the fights that she's been a part of have all been initiated by others and taken on in self defense. cary is her heart and her moral center, and while it generally bores her to tears, she's a quick study. taking advantage, physically or mentally, is sickening and not something she would ever even consider.

then, of course, there's the fact that she's been witness multiple times now to the shadow king hijacking david's brain and body. a horrifying process that's only solidified that idea.
SAMPLES:
Cary apologizes so many times that she's certain the words "I'm sorry" must be carved into the roof of his mouth. Does he taste blood each time he says them? Does he choke on her refusal to forgive? The wide, watery-eyed stare he gives each time she passes makes her want, for the first time in her entire life, to punch him. To hit over and over until her knuckles bleed and the bruises that mar his pale skin aren't hand-me-downs, but fresh and dark. Well earned, as far as she's concerned. Maybe it's her own fault. He's never known fear, coming well equipped with his own personal bodyguard. But then, until recently, neither had she. Vulnerability. A word that's always induced a roiling nausea in her stomach. A word for people who were small, and weak. She's a warrior.

And now she's broken. The eerie feeling of being stalked down blackened hallways. Her would-be killer whistling a cheerful tune, following at a leisurely pace, so inevitable was her death. Sometimes she can still hear it. Carried on the wind, creeping beneath her closed door. Written on Cary's outstretched palm when she brushes away his reaching hand once again, stalking down the empty corridors of Summerland, no idea where she's headed other than away

The hallways are eerily empty for this time of day, but her mind is moving too rapidly to even consider it. Until she gets to her bunk --a formality more than anything. everyone here knows she doesn't sleep.-- to find a smiling, oddly dressed woman already perched on it.

"Get up." Kerry snaps, never one to mince words. Not that it seems to affect this woman one way or the other. She rises fluidly, hands held palms out in a gesture of good faith.

"There's no need to be rude, Kerry. I'm only here to talk." Under different circumstances, that would be reason enough to get rid of her, but there's something about the soft tone that makes Kerry actually want to listen. The story she tells, the offer she makes. It's completely insane. Show up, hold hands with a couple strangers and we'll help you be your own person. It's too good to be true, but didn't Summerland once seem the same way? Biting at the inside of her cheek as she turns the decision over in her head, Cary's voice calling out to her once more is all the encouragement she needs.

"Alright. I'm in."

ANYTHING ELSE?
as the "muscle" of the cary/kerry relationship, she's incredibly well-trained and strong. easily able to fight multiple people on her own without breaking a sweat. in the finale (while not in control of her own body) she punches cary hard enough to rupture his spleen, so i'm assuming her strength will need to be nerfed somewhat.
